I made myself a new butterfly necklace for my recent trip to Los Angeles. What a great trip! Got to see all our friends, a birthday party, a concert, a visit with a new baby and lots of laughs! A much needed trip to recoup and de-stress from daily life.

This is a very exciting time for Zippan Designs....This spring I am embarking on a new line of cast work! What is that? What do you mean?...you ask.
Well in a nut shell, this is my process...I design and make a sample. This sample is no different than the finished cast pieces. The original sample is made from sterling silver by my hands (been working on these samples for the last three weeks to get them just right). Then small quantities are cast locally, and I do the finishing, polishing and tumbling to get them shiny and pretty for you to wear!
This will enable me more time to design, and focus on some other needed aspects of the business while still getting gorgeous jewellery to you!

I have been slowly but surely working on some new designs for Spring '10. I must admit I got a little distracted with the olympics...but now I'm off to the races!

Goodness it's been a while since my last post! I have a good excuse, no really I do. I just recently returned from three glorious weeks in Egypt.
Rested, relaxed and inspired to make some new fabulous pieces for Spring '10.
Now most of you would think...Here comes her new hieroglyphics series! Well not exactly.

The Ancient Egyptian's blew me away with their skill, ingenuity and incredible attention to detail, they left me feeling a little insignificant to say the least, haha...Well in a good way.

Here you can see a cow resting under a tree next to a ladder. I loved spotting these random moments, I couldn't make sense of it, but didn't need to.

Here it is when it's totally closed. Nice and flat, easy to throw in your bag or suitcase.
Actually this is just a sample, and I'll have a convenient elastic closure on the final product.
You can still put the elastic loops on a hook to hang.

Something that I have been experimenting with lately. I have yet to design the perfect travel case! I think I will offer two different sizes, makes sense right? Some people wear lots of jewellery and some people wear selected pieces often.
These are not available to purchase yet, but I'll let you know as soon as they are!
The other version that I'll have is much like an accordion file box. I'll have clear separators and it'll zip closed with funky fabrics on the outside!
